Motorsport Magazine "Loves" The Algarve Racetrack

Motorsport magazines Joe Saward called the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve, a "glint of hope for Europe" following a lot of suggestion, supposition and negativity surrounding the F1 2010 calendar and all the talk about Donnington Park and Silverstone and the British Grand Prix.

The very positive and factual article talks about Paulo Pinheiro, and calls him "anything but a dreamer", applauding the tracks CEO for managing to raise the money for the Portimão track from private investors.

This goes back to my second entry on this blog where I talk about "patting Paulo on the back....". This piece certainly does that! More needed please!!

For those of you who are interested in the world of Motorsport, you can subscribe to the magazine with a special price of 36 months for the price of 12 for 184 pounds by clicking on this link https://www.motorsportmagazine.co.uk/shop/wizard/select.

Motorsport Facility of the Year

I cannot believe it.

No sooner have I finished getting something of my chest, but I receive news from one the of likeminded inviduals who support the Autódromo, that race track has been awarded "Motorsport Facility of the Year - 2009" at the Professional Motorsport World Expo" that is currently on in Cologne.

Makes you think. What a brilliant start to what is now a one year old race track.

Bring on F1 I say!!

Take a look at http://www.professionalmotorsport-expo.com/winners_09/facility_winner.html

What's all this about noise?

As you can imagine, this blog could not have come soon enough for me.

I have a lot to get of my chest.

Not least is the group of residents who seem hell bent on ruining probably the best thing to hit the Algarve ever. And lets be honest, the Algarve needs a little uplifting after the Madeleine saga.

We now have a facility which brings visitors and tourist to the region, not golfers, not families. They already come. A different bread of visitor. New money. New investment. New interest. All of us who are in business, are dependent in one way or the other on the visitors. They all spend money, whether it is in hotels, restaurants, bars, taxis, car hire... the list is endless. Even if you don't think you get any benefit from visitors money, really think. Each of us reaps the rewards. Each of us receives a share of the income. Perhaps some more than others, but lets face it. If there were no tourists or visitors, we may as well all find somewhere else to live and something else to do. Visitors and tourists can become residents. That means more income to local business. Have I harped on enough?

Lets not forget, the money that this ?!?noisy?!? facility brings in. Celebrities including sports personalities who have money. The potential is that if these monied celebs like the place, they could buy here or invest here. That could increase the popularity of the region, in particular the regions around the race track, increasing house prices, and putting money into the negative residents pockets should they decide to sell.

And then there are the spin offs! An aerodrome, where the rich and famous can fly their private jets in and land easily and near the track. Oh!!THE NOISE. Give me a break. Do you hear the residents of Quinta da Lago and Vale do Lobo complaining about the international jumbo jets flying over their houses? Not a word. Has it affected the prices of property in the "Golden Triangle". Not a cent. So get a life. Hollywood is also coming to the Algarve, because of the track. Tell me you (they) won't go and visit it. Come on!

Instead of slamming someone who had a good idea, made good on the idea and is giving back to the community (of course he is making money from this and good on him- why not), give him a break. Shake his hand not his throat. Pat him on the back, don't stab him in the heart. Change is difficult, but don't be against it just for the hell of it. There are far more people FOR the track than against it. Just go with the flow and see it prosper and be part of it. This is progress.

Happy 1st birthday Autódromo Internacional do Algarve

It is about some recognition was given to Paulo Pinheiro and the team at the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve.

The track is now just over one year old and surpassed all expectations despite the negatives from a group of resident who dont seem to like progress.

I for one would like to publicly thank Paulo and his team for their efforts in raising the profile of the Algarve whilst giving us true petrol heads some enjoyment on the way.

Hoorah and a grande abrás for Paulo who without his dream, we would not have this pheonominal facility.

We are ready for the green flag!

Following my recent post to this blog, I have now completed the alterations which include an image gallery with images kindly supplied by www.iberiaimages.com with their permission for us to use so long as we give them a mention!

I have further managed to link some videos from www.youtube.com that relate the the Algarve Racetrack where in January 2009, Formula 1 testing took place.

Now all we need is people bloging!

So dont be shy - I will be posting some contentious issues shortly, so feel free to share your comments and away we go.

Thanks once again.

Welcome to We Love The Algarve Racetrack

Please bear with me - this is a work in progress and I am just cutting my teath on the blog scene.

There will (hopefully) be a slide show that will have images taken from the racetrack (subject to an agreement that will cost me very little) and also at some point soon, videos of races and the track itself (if they can be sourced for free).

Over the past few months, I have been talking to likeminded individuals who are in total support of the Algarve Race Track, what it stands for, the vision, the potential for the Algarve and so on.

So here is your chance to lend your support, to be part of a movement for progress.

Thanks for reading.
